Letter from the Danish Minister for Immigration, Integration and Housing forwarded to The European Commission

Danish Government may have to temporarily reintroduce border control at Danish internal borders.

Denmark is currently experiencing an unprecedented migration pressure and a significant number of asylum seekers. Consequently, the Danish Government put forward a bill to Parliament on 4 December 2015 introducing new rules prohibiting companies transporting persons to Denmark  by plane, ferry, train or bus transporting passengers without valid travel documents and visa into Denmark.

The Danish Government has not yet decided whether or when the new regulation may be implemented. This decision will primarily depend on the further developments in the neighbouring countries, especially Sweden and Norway, states Minister for Immigration, Integration and Housing, Inger Støjberg, in a letter forwarded to the European Commission.
